About

I was born in Lewisham and grew up on the estates of South London. I studied at Camberwell College of Arts (University of the Arts, London), and graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting in 2007. My pieces were (and often still are) inspired by nature fighting back in a post-apocalyptic future.

In 2009, I completed a City and Guilds course in Arboriculture and Tree Surgery. I now have 10 years’ chainsaw experience through my work with tree surgery firms City Suburban and Tree Elements; and Touchwood Play, building adventure playgrounds and creating sculptures.

The combination of art schooling and confidence with the chainsaw from tree surgery made my transition to sculpture really easy.

Around 2 years ago, I moved to Bristol to follow my dream of setting up my own project. My sculptures, furniture and paintings are inspired by the natural world, the unstoppable force of nature and its ability to fight the growth of civilisation; vegetation thriving in the face of human destruction, vines creeping through disused buildings. I am excited by the work of Surrealist artists such as Claes Oldenburg, Salvador Dali and Max Ernest and sculptors Simon James O’Rouke and the Tree Pirates. I admire their ability to think outside the box and to capture objects and life in motion.

My work has been featured at various exhibitions, events and festivals including Boomtown Fair, Isle of Wight Festival and Small World. I have collaborated with artists and sculptors including Captain Ad and the Tree Pirates, Twigg, Bill Hudson and Tim Norris. I directed “Myths and Monsters”, a silent auction at Kings College Hospital and was part of the Bussy Building exhibition in Peckham before it became a music venue. In 2008, I painted William Blake’s Newton for the National Theatre.

My most recent collection features a mural, child’s play sculpture, bench and centrepiece Tree of Life, carved from a 30ft redwood, can be seen dominating the Chepstow skyline. My work is also available to buy in my shop, and you can often catch me carving at events across the country. Please contact me to discuss your commissions, I’m happy to talk through ideas.
